Jay Bronner, MD
Founder / Chairman of the Board
Dr. Jay Bronner is the CEO and founder of American Orthopedic Partners and also serves as chairman of the board. A trained neuroradiologist, Dr. Bronner earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also co-founded Radiology Partners, the country’s largest radiology practice with over 3,000 radiologists nationwide.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bronner has prioritized integrating clinical innovations into everyday medical practice, starting with 24-hour-a-day imaging studies in the 1990s. Dr. Bronner has led several clinical initiatives that have developed evidence-based best practices still in use today and adopted by physicians nationwide.
In 2021, Dr. Bronner founded American Orthopedic Partners to extend his commitment to innovation and physician-led healthcare. He’s guided by a deeply held belief that physicians working within the right culture and structure are best positioned to lead meaningful improvements in healthcare.

Russell Warren, MD
Orthopedic Surgeon / Board Member
Dr. Russell Warren is a consultant and board member for AOP, bringing decades of orthopedic experience to his role. He earned his medical degree at the State University of New York at Syracuse and completed his surgical residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York. Dr. Warren currently serves as Surgeon-in-Chief Emeritus at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and as Emeritus Team Physician for the New York Giants.
As a pioneer in soft tissue research and an expert in shoulder and knee injuries and diseases, Dr. Warren has inspired generations of students and residents under his tutelage. His work with HSS has improved treatments for patients with soft tissue injuries of the shoulder and knee, greatly reducing their pain and restoring mobility.
At AOP, Dr. Warren’s focus remains on overall strategy. His work has helped refine our physician-led model and has enabled our partners to learn from one another and improve their individual daily operations.

Ted Schlegel, MD
President / Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Ted Schlegel is the president and Chief Medical Officer for American Orthopedic Partners. In his role, Dr. Schlegel ensures clinical excellence across AOP by providing expert guidance regarding medical innovations and best practices. His priority is his peers. Dr. Schlegel passion lies in sharing evidence-based treatment protocols and strategic clinical program initiatives with orthopedic physicians, helping them deliver greater clinical value to patients.
Dr. Schlegel earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Utah and a sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO. He also served as a team physician for the Denver Bronocs for 18 years, even earning the prestigious Outstanding NFL Team Physician award in 2012.
With nearly 30 years of clinical and academic experience, Dr. Schlegel offers deep insight into how physicians and surgeons can stay ahead of the curve in healthcare. He’s dedicated to keeping clinical decision-making in the hands of our physician partners and ensuring practices have access to the tools and knowledge they need to serve their patients.

Nabeel Ahmed
Chief Financial Officer
As AOP’s Chief Financial Officer, Nabeel Ahmed brings over 17 years of healthcare financial management experience to our partners. Nabeel is a hands-on leader and a trusted strategic advisor who has empowered American Orthopedic Partners with innovative tools and critical business knowledge. He’s passionate about solving problems for our partners and has a proven track record of driving growth and profitability for organizations across the healthcare system.
Nabeel has earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in accounting and holds an additional CPA certification. He’s worked with both private and public companies to drive new business development, streamline operations, and ensure favorable financial outcomes in multiple healthcare sections. Much of his work focuses on building long-lasting, personal relationships with practitioners and other partners, further enabling him to deliver individualized service.
Before joining American Orthopedic Partners, Nabeel served as Vice President of The Aspen Group, growing their national dental footprint from 600 to 1,200 locations. His entrepreneurial spirit and proactive approach to expansion also aided him in a previous role with Walgreens, leading their financial planning and analysis department to improve operations in their pharmacy, payer relations, and product innovation divisions.
